Shoulder height 66-74 cm; weight 36-45 kg.
A medium-sized, low and heavily built deer with short face and legs. Coat
yellow brown to dark brown according to the season, but with darker
underpart. Only males have antlers, which can be recognized by the inner
tine of upper fork curve more or less downwards. Fawns spotted.
